Visiting safely

Is the museum open? What protective measures will be in place?

We are open and have taken the necessary measures to ensure that your visit is as safe as possible.

  • It is vital to keep 1.5 metres distance from others. This applies throughout the museum and in the galleries. The museum building is large enough for visitors to remain a safe distance from each other. Families and other social units should keep 1.5 metres distance from others as a single unit.
  • I have purchased a ticket and am shortly due to visit the museum, but now have (mild) symptoms. What should I do?

If you have a cold or other symptoms, you should stay at home, in line with the guidelines of the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM).

You can change your ticket to another day free of charge. Please get in touch with us using the contact form.

    Are the toilets open?

The restrooms in the museum are open and are cleaned regularly. When visiting a restroom, please follow the signs as well as any instructions given by our staff and keep 1.5 metres distance from other visitors. There are more than enough toilets for all visitors.

How can I support the museum?

Would you like to support The Mesdag Collection? This can be done by making a one-time donation.

Exhibitions, publications and activities for students, the elderly and disabled visitors are made possible by private individuals and foundations and are indispensable for The Mesdag Collection. Every contribution, large or small, is very welcome.

You can print out your online ticket, but you don’t have to: you can also present your ticket your mobile phone or tablet at the museum entrance.

If you booked a ticket using a discount card, such as a Museumkaart, you must also be able to present it along with your ticket on entry
