School visit

The Mesdag Collection offers a special museum class for pupils in year 3 at primary schools in The Hague.

The museum class is part of the ‘Hague Cultural Menu’, a collaboration between 17 heritage institutions that provides a museum programme for primary schools in The Hague.

Pupils who take the class at The Mesdag Collection experience the unique atmosphere of a 19th-century museum building first-hand. Through a range of hands-on assignments, they discover that each art object has its own story to tell. Pupils are encouraged to look closely and to express their impressions by, for instance, choosing a personal approach to creating a drawing of a painting. The lesson ties in with the visual arts and language elements of the curriculum.
